Highlands Wedding at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn & Spa

Lizzy and Bradley’s wedding at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, North Carolina, was the kind of day that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this venue set the stage for a celebration that effortlessly combined elegance, warmth, and a little bit of vintage charm. From the pastel florals to the couple’s classic style, every detail reflected their story.

A Venue That Feels Like a Storybook

Imagine a cottage in the trees illuminated by vintage lamp posts, stone-lined paths leading to a peaceful trout pond (accessible via charming wooden bridges), and a thriving orchard as the cherry on top. A sense of nostalgia touches every inch of this beloved farm. And that's just the outside.

The gorgeous Orchard House, a large banquet hall brimming with delicate pastel florals made it impossible to set my camera down. But the term "banquet hall" doesn't do it justice; this Highlands venue is in a league of its own. Pardon the cliche, but it truly does feel like you've stepped into a childhood storybook, and you'll never want to leave. The peaceful setting has a way of touching your soulβ€”just the kind of place you want on your wedding day (or wedding weekend if you decide to stay!).

Getting Ready & First Looks

The day began in one of the farm’s cozy cottages, where Lizzy got ready with her bridesmaids. After slipping into her gown, she stepped out onto the deck for some priceless first looksβ€”not only with her bridesmaids but also with the special men in her life. It was one of those moments that slowed the day down, letting everyone soak in the anticipation.

Afterward, Lizzy and Bradley shared a private first look and vow exchange under the trees. Away from the bustle, they were able to pause, take a breath, and be present together. We wandered the property at their pace, exploring the gardens and tucked-away corners while capturing portraits. Those unhurried moments turned into some of the most meaningful parts of the day, giving them space to connect before the celebration began.

The Ceremony & Reception at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn

Their ceremony took place in The Orchard House, a glass-filled space surrounded by gardens and overflowing with natural light. Delicate pastel florals softened the modern lines of the room, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere. It was a space that felt sacred yet inviting, intimate but still able to accommodate all their loved ones.

After the vows, guests moved into The Pavilion for dinner and dancing. It’s a space with warmth built right inβ€”stone floors, wooden beams, and a fireplaceβ€”yet the floor-to-ceiling windows still make it feel open and airy. During dinner, toasts filled the room with laughter and tears as family and friends shared stories about the couple.

Later, Lizzy surprised everyone with a quick wardrobe change, stepping out in a shimmering bodycon dress that set the tone for the dance floor. The energy stayed high until the end of the night when they made their getaway in Bradley’s classic baby blue Pontiac GTOβ€”top down, smiles wide.

A Wedding That Balanced Elegance & Nostalgia

One of the things that made this day so memorable was the way Lizzy and Bradley wove together classic elegance with touches of nostalgia. Lizzy’s soft bridal look paired beautifully with the natural surroundings, while Bradley’s tuxedo and love for an old-fashioned cocktail gave a nod to timeless sophistication.

And then there was the baby blue Pontiac GTOβ€”a detail that added vintage charm and the perfect β€œsomething blue.” From portraits under shade trees to candid moments by the trout pond, the entire day felt elevated yet grounded in authenticity.
